Painting Realities - Longhorn Painting

Painting Realities

NEVER ALLOW A PAINTER TO POWERWASH INSTEAD OF WIRE BRUSING OR SCRAPING

WE HAND WASH YOUR HOUSE BEFORE PAINTING

Using a pressure washer as the primary preparation tool is a terrible idea 100% of the time for all houses, everywhere.

There seems to be this conspiracy between the laziness of some painters and the paint companies.  Paint companies, in my opinion, love painters to use power washers instead of scrapers and wire brushes because it causes paint to prematurely FAIL.  Please don’t misunderstand, this is not an opinion.  This is fact.  Paint’s primary job is to protect the house from the elements.  A house in need of a paint job typically has lost the protection that paint offers.  In addition, most homes are not sealed properly, this missing caulking or sealant, not only wastes energy dollars but also leaves gaps for the lazy painter to shoot high pressure water through.

We properly prepare a home by first using a scraper or wire brush on all to be painted surfaces.  This is different than most painters that start with the above mentioned power washer, home destroyer of death.  Many painters that we compete against claim to use scrapers and wire brushes.  However they begin their process with the home destroyer of death.  Why would they need to wash the surface that they are then going to brush off?  The answer is simple, they have no intention of wire brushing or scraping every square inch.  What they mean is that they will have the wire brush or scraper in their back pocket if they “need” it on areas that they clearly do.  Longhorn Painting’s two jobs in one concept allows the homeowner to see that every square inch of the house has been prepared before it is covered up with paint.   Lets be clear, all painters promise that the will prepare the house, Longhorn Painting is the only firm that allows the customer and Longhorn Painting manager to inspect this important expectation, allowing no possibility that the house is receiving paint before a thorough preparation process is completed.  Ask yourself this question: If you believe preparation is an important part of a paint job why would you just take someones word that it was done correctly, especially when it is SO easy to show you either in person or via photographs.  We believe that most painters start painting in the first few hours they are on the jobsite.  There is no way to tell after the paint has been applied whether or not the house was properly prepared, that is of course until the paint starts falling off!  Don’t risk you investment!

We hand wash, and rinse only!
Houses are, and always have been designed to protect from rain falling down from above. It is counter intuitive and a bad idea to shoot highly pressurized water at a house from the directions they are not designed to be protected from.

Cleaning requires that a detergent be agitated to remove dirt and mildew.  Simply spraying the surface with a detergent will not itself be as effective as spraying and brushing.

  • Shooting water under pressure from below behind your siding, under your eaves, and through your windows, puts water behind wood where it does not belong, and where it wil cause water damage, wood rot, and mold.
  • Pressure washers shoot water at between 2500 and 4000 PSI.  To better visualize this, we have used a pressure washer to make a granite bird bath, that’s right that type of pressure cuts granite!
  • You would not clean your dishes simply by running them under water; you would wash them with soap and a cloth or a brush, to make sure they were clean.
  • Hand washing uses a gentle cleaning system that will remove all dirt, and mildew from your home.
  • We use stainless steal wire brushes

Please call us before you let anyone damage your home with a little bit of knowledge, and a lot of water pressure..
